SRK’s RA One runs into legal trouble over copyright

SRK’s ambitious project RA One which is slated to be his Diwali release has run into legal trouble. The movie stars Sharukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. With just a few days left for the release and Eros International having acquired the world distribution rights for a whooping 150 crores, SRK seems to have a lot of sorting out to do if he wants the movie to be released this Diwali.

Yash Patnaik, a television writer and producer claims that the concept is originally his and claims copyright for it. The Bombay high court has directed that Rupees one crore be deposited as a pay-order to the court if the film has to be released. Yash Patnaik states that he has not been given credit for the concept and want 10% in the profits if it is not done. Yash Patnaik had developed the concept in the year 2006 and his character was called “ONE”.

With so much going on behind the scenes it is wait and watch to see how the super hero handles this grave situation and whether SRK would have yet another hit this Diwali.

Star studded baby shower for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a star studded godh bharai (baby shower). Mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan and sister-in-law Shweta left no stones unturned to ensure that it was a grand function. They personally ensured that all guests were well looked after. A star studded event , the entire Bollywood galaxy had descended at the Bachchan residence Jalsa. Bipasha Basu, Twinkle Khanna, Saira Banu, Nitu Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Karan Johar, Manyata Dutt and Asha Parekh were among those who attended the function.

Aishwarya wore an Indian outfit and looked gorgeous as ever. The reputed make up artist Mickey Contractor was there too get the would be mother get ready for the event. Aishwarys is due next month and the Bachchan and Rai family are eagerly awaiting the good news. Hubby Abhishek flew in from his shooting schedule to be there with wife and family. However, Amitabh Bachchan was unable to attend the function as he is shooting for his Hollywood venture “The Great Gastby”. After the function, Aishwarya will leave for her parents home.

Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap realeasing 1st July, 2011

The Big B starrer Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap is all set for release today the 1st of July. The Big B has left no stones unturned in the promotion of his home production venture. Amitabh Bachchan recollects one of the special moments of shooting for the film and says "I had to ride this Harley Davidson for one of my scenes. The bike is very stylish but when I tried to ride it, it felt as if I am pulling an entire building along with me." It did take him some time and effort to get the bike going. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and has plans of buying a Harley Davidson of his own very soon. He says "It's a fantastic bike and I want to buy one soon. I want to ride it on Mumbai streets. I wish I had bought one before but it's never too late,". We may soon have the privilege of seeing the Big B on the streets of Mumbai on his mean machine, surely Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap".

Written and directed by Poori Jagannath. The director makes his debut into Bollywood with this mega project. The movie is a thriller with the right mix of humour, action and drama. The movie Bbudah Hoga Tera Baap has the Big B playing a retired gangster who is settled in Paris and makes a trip to India for one last assignment. The angry young man is back again is what the film screams out loud and clear. The star cast includes Raveena Tandon, Hema Malini, Sonal Chauhan and Charmy Kaur.

This surely promises to be a treat for all those hardcore Amitabh fans out there.

Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine put off

Aishwarya had just signed an ambitious film project with Madhur Bhandarkar titled “Heroine” where she was to play the female lead. A few days of shooting too have been completed. There has been a lot of speculation on whether she would complete the film before going on maternity leave or not. The initial news said that she would complete the film and Madhur Bhandarkar would plan the promotion in such a way that Aishwarya could be a part of it without any problems. However, there are constraints when it comes with working with a pregnant actress. The movie requires her to dance, run around, smoke and drink which is not possible for Aishwarya at the moment. The media soon came out with a buzz that Priyanka Chopra may replace Aishwarya in the movie "Heroine". However, there is no such thing going to happen.

All the speculation was put to rest when UTV Motion Pictures was out with their press release that stated “At this point nothing is more important than Aishwarya's well being and good health. In that context, we have all mutually agreed that the best step would be to avoid shooting further rather than proceeding with an incredibly demanding schedule over the coming months. Even as we will truly miss this opportunity to work with Aishwarya, the entire unit wishes her the very best for the exciting time ahead”.

Madhur Bhandarkar sure would not like to take chances with a five month pregnant Aishwarya. She can now take a good break and enjoy all the pampering. Sources say that it is going to be a November baby. Astrologers have gone on to say that the couple would have a baby girl or else there is also a possibility of twins. We wish the couple all the best and Aishwarya a happy journey to motherhood.

Mani Ratnam's Raavana - what will the end be?

Mani Ratnam's Raavana starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai is known to be in the news for one reason or the other since it went on the floor. With several mishaps and Mani Ratnam going through a bad patch with his health going bad, the film is atlast almost done. However, once again Mani Ratnam's Raavana has been in the limelight and this time for the four endings that have been shot. Mani Ratnam is still not sure how to end this much hyped mega film. The film is a modern version of the Ramayana wherein Aishwarya Bachchan is known to play Sita and Abhishek plays the character of Raavana.

The film has four endings, the first being Sita choosing Raavana over Rama and the second Sita going back to her beloved Rama. The third ending and the fourth have either Raavana's life coming to an end or that of Rama dying and obviously Sita choosing the surviving male. So much for confusion. Wonder what end Mani Ratnam would choose. Knowing the trouble makers and the controversies that the recent Bollywood releases have been through just hope that Raavana does not run into any more trouble.

This Friday is surely a big day for all Bollywood fans with two mega films releasing on the same day. Ishqiya starring Vidya Balan, Nasseruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi that has already got people talking is releasing opposite Amitabh Bachchan’s Rann which is a film on the media. The 28th of November saw the Bachchan family celebrate the 102nd birth anniversary of Harivanshrai Bachchan. The celebration at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mumbai saw a number of celebrities attend the function. The entire Bachchan family including the Big B, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya were present. The guests included good friend and politician Amar Singh, Tina Ambani and Kokila Ben, Om Puri with wife Nandita to name a few. Shweta Bachchan and Ajitabh Bachchan too were present at the function.

De Dana Dan - Gale Lag Ja song missing in the film

De Dana Dan, The Priyadarshan directed laugh riot is in the theatres. However, for those who decided to go to the theatres for the Gale Lag Ja, the steamy number starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, it was disappointing.The song in which Akshay and Katrina Kaif are shown soaking in the rains is not a part of the De Dana Dan movie yet. When asked director Priyadarshan says, the song is a bonus and he is keeping it away for some more time. It may be 3-4 days before the song hits the theatres. So much for marketing talent!!

The film is likely to do well as Akshay considers Katrina Kaif to be his lucky charm. With a list of flops like Chandni Chowk to china, Kambakkt Ishq and the latest underwater thriller Blue, Akshay sure is looking forward to De Dana Dan helping him make a turnaround.

With the David Dhawan directed “Do Knot Disturb” releasing on the 2nd of October, the stars and the director David Dhawan are leaving no stones unturned for generating some interest. It is a comeback film for the director David Dhawan after a very long gap. The film stars Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Sohail Khan. The film is a comedy that has a businessman trying to cover up his extra marital affair and then the drama follows. Looks like the usual masala flick from Bollywood where there is really no story but then things go on and on and finally all the loose ends are tied together to announce “The End”.

Coming back to Salman’s show on television “Dus Ka Dum”, the crew got Salman to take off his short on the show. Salman is known for taking off his shirt at just the drop of a hat, but this is the first time on television and the audience surely had a great time. The show was a fun filled one with the stars shaking a leg to a number and the usual Dhamaal that you can expect when you bring David Dhawan and Govinda together.

After all the hype that was created, Dil Bole Hadippa and Wanted were finally here this weekend. What is the result of all the media hype and promotion that the stars worked so hard on? Decided to check out Dil Bole Hadippa this weekend (Wanted I was sure is one I couldn’t sit through).

Dil Bole Hadippa although I knew was a total masala flick decided to take the plunge coz Rani is one of my favorites and yes, a long weekend so a family outing. My daughter being the wide-eyed Bollywood wonder, sat through very patiently and happily in fact with her bag of popcorn and coke, however, hubby dear did find it really really tough to sit through the 3 long hours that didn't seem to end. A Sunday afternoon and the theatres was more empty than full, this spoke volumes for the film's success anyway.

Dil Bole Hadippa with all the hype that was created over a cricket film and Rani playing a Sardar was totally lacklustre, in fact, would prefer to call it a complete directorial disaster. With a very weak plot, the director too totally lost focus (that is if he did have it from the beginning). The confusion was evident in the film. The director was not sure on which lines to take the film …whether it was to be cricket, the Indo-Pak friendship or female emancipation. And really don’t know what Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra were doing out there in their skimpy outfits. As for Shahid Kapoor too, after Kaminey, a lot more was expected of him and the actor too failed to rise to the expectations. The songs were average and every now and then just popped out of nowhere (it was more like, there were some more bits of the puzzle left after the entire thing was put together and it just had to be put in …somewhere…just to prove a point). The film would not even qualify for an OK and coming from the Yash banner it was yet another disaster. They seriously need to look at the kind of films they have been putting together lately.

Felt a little bad at the end of the film coz so much money and effort goes into something that is a total failure…but guess that’s what the box office is all about… and we soon leave Rani behind and look forward to Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja’s “What’s Your Raashee?” (where she plays 12 different roles) that is releasing this Friday, the 25th of September 2009.

Today being Friday, the first thing most Bollywood fans would have done was to go through the papers for the releases this week. However, disappointment is all that the fans have with just one release today “Aamras”. All those who haven’t still caught up on “Love Aaj Kal” and “Kaminey” probably this is the week to do it, for next week you have two blockbusters fighting it out at the box office.
Next Friday , Sep 18th has Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia starrer “Wanted” releasing along with the Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor film “Dil Bole Hadippa”.

“Wanted” is an action film from Sahara One Motion Pictures and Surinder Kapoor films Enterprises banner. Produced by Boney Kapoor and directed by the dancer-actor turned director Prabhu Deva. The star cast includes Salman Khan playing “Radhe”, Ayesha Takia as “Jhanvi” and the others include Mahesh Manjrekar, Vinod Khanna, Sajid, Asseem Merchant and Anil Kapoor in a special appearance. The music is by Sajid Wajid. Rumors are that Salman was so impressed watching “Wanted” that he has asked Boney Kapoor to start another film with him. The film will most probably be directed by Boney Kapoor’s son. Salman hope all your expectation from the film come true.

“Dil Bole Hadippa” on the other hand, is a Yash Banner presentation, produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Anurag Singh. The film is going to be a comeback film for Rani Mukherjee after a long back. She looks great with all the weight loss and a total makeover. The film has her playing a double role – Veer and Veera. Rani playing a girl and a Sardar boy is paired with Shahid Kapoor in the film. At last the turn of events as we expected has taken place. Rakhi Ka Swayamvar the first reality show of its kind on Indian television that had Rakhi choosing her life partner Elesh Parajunwala on the show has a new ending. Rakhi chose her partner in the grand finale and created quite an interest online as well as had several people watch the show with great curiosity. She said she would eventually marry the man after getting to know him better. However, just a few days after the grand finale news has it that Rakhi and Elesh don't get along. Rakhi said "I have met Elesh just twice after the show. Once we went out for a coffee and next when he came over to my house on Sunday for a party I had thrown for friends. I hardly know him well enough. How can I say he is the one for me?".

So Rakhi we all know that it is difficult to choose a life partner in just a few meetings and that too with the world watching every move. So did she and the reality show makers make a fool out of the public? Isn't this a unfair way to increase TRPs? Probably if the news had leaked people would have been a little skeptical about a Brazilian model playing a Punjabi kudi…whether she would be actually able to carry it off or not? Imtiaz Ali says "She is actually a Brazilian girl named Giselle Monteiro. How come a Brazilian girl stepped into an old-fashioned Punjabi girl's role? I couldn't find the right girl to play the 1965 ki 'gali mein rehne wali ladki, purane zamane ki". Giselle Monteiro came in for another role but Imtiaz's wife felt she fitted this role perfectly and the rest is here for us to see. The film is a hit and probably its more because of the way the subject is treated by director Imtiaz Ali. Of course after Jab We Met the expectations were very high. The reviews for the film have been good and the very miserly critics of the leading newspapers have given it a good rating too. A fresh feel and the songs too are good. And to see Saif has really maintained himself well. Especially when we see that he is close to 20 years older than his co-star Deepika Padukone. Good going Saif baba.

More because the person to choose her life partner was Rakhi Saawant. Narrow escape for Abhi and Ash

It was a real narrow escape for Abhi and Ash on the sets of Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. Mani Ratnam’s Raavan has been in the news but not for pleasant reasons really. Earlier it was the director having chest pain and the shootings being postponed and now a tusker creates trouble turns dangerous. Shooting has been on for the film in the jungles of Kerala and Abhi and Ash have surely been enjoying their time together in the serene locales. However the other day was one of shock. A tusker on the sets of the film went totally out of control and killed the mahout, destroyed a lot of property including equipment like lights and props. Abhi and Ash had a very narrow escape. Blocking the road, the tusker prevented the crew from going back to the hotel. It was after a great ordeal which lasted for a long time that the forest authorities could bring the big monster under control.

The forest authorities made arrangements for the crew including our very own Abhi and Ash to move to a safer location. Hoping that there are no more untoward incidents and that Mani Ratnam’s Raavan finishes the schedules on time and hits the theatres. With this incident having send a terrible shock wave everyone on the sets too would want the film to be completed as soon as possible.

Love Aaj Kal releases today –Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone

Just a few hours to go for the Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone Love Aaj Kal to be at the theatres. The Friday fans…the first day first show kind are definitely waiting. The film sure has been in the news lately with the beard of Saif Ali Khan and some scenes from the film hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.

Saif’s debut production venture did run into trouble with the Punjab Cultural and Heritage Board raising objection to Saif’s trimmed beard look and the Sardar wooing a girl at the Gurudwara scene, however alls well that ends well. Issues are all sorted out and for the fans it is first day first show today. Saif visited the Gurudwara and paid his respects and apologized at a press conference later. A 15 seconds cut in the film and an apology has ensured a safe release for Saif. Saif said “the board had a problem with the film, which was legitimate, Gurudwara is a place of worship and we should not be disrespect that. Even though my film did not try to disrespect, we will edit the sequence". The President of the Punjab Cultural and Heritage Board Mr. Charan Singh Sapra said “this is to inform all the people in Bollywood that we will not accept anymore letters henceforth, if you have any problem come and consult the board free of cost, and we will help you portray Sikh characters, this is the last time we are letting a film get away with this".

This is definitely a strong message to the Bollywood film makers. However, with controversies resolved Bollywood definitely stands to gain as there would be more people who would like to see the film now after the big hue and cry that has been going on for some days now. The film has a fresh and nice feel going by the promos….will it make it to the list of hits…the clock ticks away rapidly to bring you the answer….wait and watch.

Amrita Rao steps into Katrina’s shoes in Life Partner

With Katrina deciding to take a break and holidaying with family in London it was Amrita Rao who had it all going good for her. The Abbas-Mastan film was a big hit and so Katrina was the obvious choice for the sequel Life Partner. However, with Katrina not being able to spare any dates for the shooting it was Amrita Rao who was approached and yes, she readily agreed.

The film would have Amrita being paired opposite none other than Chi Chi ( don’t know how the couple would look…right now it seems a perfect 10…no pun intended guys). Genelia D’souza(Sanjana) and Fardeen Khan(Karan) is the other pair in the film and with the promos already out, the film seems to be surely generating some interest. There is also a third couple in the film – Tusshar Kapoor(Bhavesh) and Prachi Desai. A bunch of youngsters its going to be (will Chi Chi who plays a divorce lawyer Jeet in the film Life Partner too fit this category).

The film as the name suggests is all about Life and your Partner. Marriage - is it important to walk the age old path of love and marriage or is being single the mantra to happiness? Is it important to put the seal of marriage for a relationship to be successful and happiness to creep in? Is arranged marriage the way to go or love marriage the ultimate stop? Is family an important part of any marriage, is it important to be a good daughter-in-law to fit the mould and being your husband's ideal woman? Many films have in the past decided to look at marriage and life from different angles and here is yet another one. Of course, the approach does matter, hope Life Partner is able to bring in a fresh feel to the same giza pita subject. Shaadi ka ladoo jo khaya woh pachtaya jo nahi khaya woh bhi pachtaya. With the institution of marriage being so very important in our society it is yet another Bollywood movie that takes you on an introspection of life and marriage.

It has all the ingredients for the perfect Bollywood masala flick, but whether Life Partner manages to impress the audience only time will tell. With the release date of August 14th fast approaching do we see the seats filling up or is it yet another come and go for Bollywood? It is going to be a release for Genelia D’souza after a long gap and hope she is able to recreate the Jaane Tu Jaane Na magic.Prachi Desai too needs a hit after her Rock On performance to seal her place in Bollywood.

Working on these two films has given me maximum satisfaction and a lot of good offers too. It is a glam role with different costumes, but there’s nothing vulgar in it”.

Going by the promos of the film, it looks like a fun film and Amrita Rao adds a glam touch to it. With Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi, the comedy looks great. The film revolves around the making of a film. So it is actually a film within a film as Amrita puts it. I think I am going to be at th theatres to watch this one, how about you. The film is to hit the theatres on the 10th of July, 2009.

I am back after the big break and although I though I would take it easy before I get back to regular blogging, Bollywood has lured me into starting to write. With so much happening Shiney Ahuja got Bollywood on the headlines just a few days back, with actors and actresses descending by the dime a dozen on the small screen as anchors and for promoting their current films, I surely couldn’t keep away from my keyboard any longer.

Shahrukh Khan the Bollywood Badshah is back in news with his Doctorate. I just love Shahrukh and maybe by now I have said that so many times in my posts. He is a star in the true sense, does his job well, knows how to market himself well and does not get into unwanted controversies to create publicity or must I say cheap publicity. After the Datuk title from Malaysia, Shahrukh has now been honoured with the Doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire, Britain. Shahrukh has definitely not let success get to his head and this honour just goes to prove it. Chosen by the NGO Routes to Roots for his excellent work towards the underprivileged of the society, the jury decided to choose Shahrukh. Shahrukh has been doing a lot of charitable work for the downtrodden in the society and the best part is that he never went about blowing his own trumpet. Did you know that shahrukh had a side like this to him? That’s what is Shahrukh and that’s what makes him so special and different. Guess my love for the actor is showing a lot in my post, time to stop. All the best to Shahrukh in all his future endeavors and keep up the good work SRK!!

From Fashion to magazine covers to product launches to sports; all fields seem to have been taken over by the glamour, style and money power of movie stars. The recent Lakme Fashion Week saw Bollywood stars being the show stoppers for famous designers.

From SRK to Farhan Akhtar, Deepika Padukone and of course Akshay Kumar were all there.

Akshay Kumar got himself a lot of publicity (whether good or bad is for you to decide) with his act of getting wife Twinkle Khanna to unbutton his jeans.

Malaika Arora Khan's little bump too drew in a lot of attention and the media was soon abuzz with rumours of whether or not Malaika is pregnant. From glamour to controversies the Lakme Fashion Week has seen it all.

The queen of television – Ekta Kapoor – has signed on the pretty Prachi for her next Bollywood venture. The two have come together again and this time for Balaji Films next production. Prachi Desai would be playing the role of the wife of Dawood Ibrahim’s mate Mehjabeen. The film is titled “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai”. With the film requiring real life looks , the two – Ekta and Prachi- have been busy shopping or rather hunting for clothes. From the Bhendi bazaar area in Mumbai to all possible Muslim localities they have been looking out for clothes to fit her looks in the film. She would have to go back in time for the role and have to dress up in the 1970s style.

She says “This character is from a time that existed before me. Yes I've done plenty of reading on my character. I want to look and feel like Mehjabeen. And it's such a challenge. And doing a film with Balaji is like coming home. Shobha Aunty, Jeetu Uncle and Ekta are like family. I remained connected with them when I did Rock On because it was directed by Ekta's cousin Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor). My second film Life Partner has Ekta's brother Tusshar Kapoor as my co-star. And now I'm finally doing a Balaji production”. Prachi has remained connected with Ekta and family. The genius who gave us films like Kashmir Ki kali, An Evening in Paris, Aradhana and Kati Patang to mention a few, breathed his last in his home in Mumbai. He was 83 years old. Ailing for some time now, he had suffered a stroke about 2 months back. He was making a recovery, however, he succumbed to a cardiac arrest late last evening. His son Ashim Samanta, a film maker was by his side. He gave the Bollywood industry uncomparable gems and in fact, Bollywood saw its golden years during the time. With leading actors such as Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shammi Kapoor all giving superb performances under Shakti Samanta’s able guidance, he leaves behind a whole range of films which would remain evergreen. The dance reality show "Jhalak Dikla Ja" is one which has me hooked on to the TV these days. The show started off with 10 celebrities pairing up with their respective choreographers and setting the stage on fire. Non-dancers these celebrities including cricketer Amarnath have done a very good job. The celebrities have only got better with time and have tried more adventurous dance forms with their choreographers lending full support.

A few weeks into the show saw the addition of footballer "Baichung Bhutia". And from the stiff footballer he is definitely turning into a good dancer. With three celebrities eliminated over the past 3 weeks the show has made another wild card entry with actress and trained dancer Koena Mitra. The actress is definitely a surprise package expected to increase the TRP ratings and get the show popular. There are however, mixed reactions to this from the Jhalak house. On one hand, when some of them do take it as an opportunity to better themselves, there are others who feel that inviting a trained dancer at this stage is not the right move to make. The channel can however, change the pattern at any point and getting more viewership is surely very important.

The "Teen Deviyaan" or the three female judges - Saroj Khan, Juhi Chawla and Vaibhavi Merchant" are doing a great job. For viewers like me, twists like this definitely makes it more interesting to continue watching the show. What do you feel?

Lakme Fashion week this year has been a star studded affair with several Bollywood stars right from the King Khan walking the ramp. shahrukh looked stylish as ever even with one hand in sling. However, it is Akshay Kumar the show stopper who actually has got all the attention with his act. The actor walked the ramp then walked over to his wife Twinkle and got her to unbutton his jeans. There is a suit already filed against him for the act. Being brand ambassador for Levi's "unbuttoned" he probably found it to be just another act , however social worker Anil P Nayar found it objectionable. When asked Akshay Kumar said " There is nothing wrong in it. Everybody unbuttons himself or gets unbuttoned by someone. What's the big deal about it?".

Akshay there are a lot of things we do on a regular basis however, there are some things that are best left behind closed doors. Bollywood has crossed all barriers and brought things on screen but does this cross the basics of decency and move on to the realm of indecency and vulgarity. The limits for each one and his perceptions are different. For me this is a little too much to handle (you may call it conservative attitude though).

SRK has been given the discharge slip, however a rest period of 2-3 weeks what is advised for the actor. The actor has proved to be a true professional going on with work inspite of the shoulder injury. He was injured while shooting for "Dulha Mil Gaya". There has been a lot of speculation going on in the last few days as to where Shahrukh Khan would get the surgery done, will he fly abroad or not?

He decided to get his surgery done from the reputed Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai. Dr Sanjay Desai the renowned surgeon performed the surgery. The actor is recovering well and has been given the discharge slip. Post surgery period definitely is one that needs a lot of rest and care. Wishing Shahrukh a quick recovery and hoping to see him back on the silver screen soon.

Tabu is one of my favorite actresses and I have loved all her performances. Her "Cheeni Kum" too has been another one of her wonderful performances where she carried off a serious role in a very light hearted way. Performing opposite none other than the Big B himself and still giving a powerful performance without getting lost in the shadow of his charisma is really creditable. I loved seeing Tabu on the "Vogue" cover of the Jan 2009 issue. Yes, sure did make my day, in fact, a great way to begin the year.

Tabu has not had a single release in the year 2008, however, she is not an actor who would do just about any film that comes her way. She has been seen very little but all her performances have hit the bulls eye. This tall gorgeous actress is looking ravishing in a silk gown studded with Swarovski. She talks about herself and life from Hyderabad to the silver screen. A real treat for all Tabu fans.

The director Chandraprakash Dwivedi says “Tabu had not a moment's hesitation in saying yes to the role of emperor Ashoka's powerful wife Tishyarakshitra, so powerful she swayed the entire Mauryan empire with her politics and aura. We needed an actress with the strength of conviction. I wouldn't make Ashoka without him. As for Tabu, she plays his young, fiery, assertive wife. She's an actress I've wanted to work with for a very long time. Again, only she could play Tishyarakshitra”. The two talented actors are best suited for the role and would do full justice to the characters played by them. Is this going to be a period film we would look forward to? Will it match up to the grandeur of “Jodhaa Akbar”? Am I getting too many thoughts started…anyway there’s plenty of time. We will just hope it turns out to be one film that we would love and also one that kids enjoy watching and get a glimpse of their history.

Shahrukh Khan now “Datuk Shahrukh Khan”

This weekend saw Shahrukh flying into Malaysia to receive the coveted title of the “Datuk”. The title is similar to the knighthood of Britain. It is indeed a great honor and SRK is the first Indian actor to receive it. SRK wore the traditional Malaysian dress and all dressed smartly in black and gold made a grand entry to receive to. The fans definitely were floored to see their favorite actor. There were 76 others who received the title and Shahrukh made it a point to acknowledge the presence of his fans. A star in all respects.

The Malacca authorities said “Khan was given the title because some of his movies had been shot in the historical state boosting tourism”. Shahrukh Khan, many other Bollywood and popular Tamil actors are very popular in the land considering its huge ethnic population. Shahrukh has an injured arm as a result of an accident on one of the locations however, this did not in anyway restrict him for being the friendly star he is. He even took a rickshaw ride through Malacca. However, there are quite a few people who are definitely not happy with the decision and there is a big controversy going on as regards why SRK has been chosen for the title.

Here's bringing for you a few glimpses of the forthcoming Yash Raj attraction, starring Shahrukh Khan and newcomer Anushka Sharma. The film has got Aditya Chopra behind the camera after a long break of seven years. This is going to be Shahrukh's first major release of the year after a guest appearance in "Bhoothnath".

The film has decided to ban a Pakistan release for now going by the present crisis between the two countries. Mahesh Bhatt who was responsible for taking Bollywood films to Pakistan says "Terrorism affects everything. It will definitely create a major setback in the Indo-Pakistan relationship. I guess both countries should behave responsibly and deal with terrorism. But for the time being, we should let things fall in place. When these issues are resolved, we can get back to working together. Right now, we have a larger issue to deal with. Whether the film releases simultaneously or not, piracy is and will always be a major issue around. We have to take steps to curb that first".

The Clash of the Titans at the Box Ofiice

It is going to be a show of sorts at the box office this month with the Clash of the Titans. The month is going to be a real treat for the Bolly fans…what with Shahrukh coming with the Yash Raj banner release on the 12 of December “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”. Following him is Aamir with Ghajini the much awaited release of Aamir this year. Then we also have the animated film “Jumbo” where Akshay has lend his voice and also has a major stake. The cine goers are going to be in for some action this festive season.

“Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” said to be a love story of a different kind looks like a soft romantic love story with the typical Yash Raj stamp. This sure is going to appeal to the family audience. When on the other hand, Ghajini is a mixture of the hard and the soft, love and violence, it looks like a thing for the serious movie fans. The AR Rahman music has still not managed to create the usual magic.

Both films have fresh new faces opposite the Khans. “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” has the newcomer Anushka opposite SRK and in “Ghajini” the south sensation Asin makes her debut into Bollywood. Yash Raj banner is sure keeping their fingers crossed with a string of films that didn’t do well at the box office. Will the Yash Rah magic work this time or does the year belong to “Aamir”. With just a few days to go the Bollywood fans definitely have lots to look forward to.

Bollywood actresses sure have taken on a lot these days. The magazine cover pages, judging television reality shows and being an integral parts of the promotional campaigns of films. Some years back the Bollywood fraternity was just restricted to the silver screen and of course the cover page of film magazines. A filmfare or some other award function and you would probably see the actor or actress on the cover page of “India Today” or some of the other popular magazines. However, today it is them on almost all the glamour magazine cover pages.

I had made a few recent posts with Aishwarya, Priyanka and Deepika Padukone on the cover page of Vogue India, Verve and Jade. I am again back with more cover page news. Katrina Kaif, the commercial queen of Bollywood stars on the latest Vogue Cover page. The December issue has Katrina looking hot and gorgeous as ever. Katrina sure has it going great for her with the series of hits with Akshay. Although “Yuuvraaj”her film with Salman didn’t do too well at the box office, Katrina still continues to be the ruling queen especially when it comes to comedies. Fans sure are looking forward to the next Akshay-Katrina starrer….what say Katrina fans?

The actress is all set to play 12 different roles in Ashutosh Gowatrikar’s next titled “What’s Your Rashi?” . If you though Sanjeev Kapoor set the recors for multiple role then here’s more action coming your way. She is paired opposite beau Harman Baweja in the film. We definitely look forward to some fireworks(definitely not the “Lovestory 2050” kind). Of course coming from Ashutosh Gowatrikar it sure is going to have a touch of brilliance. Speaking about the film he says “Lagaan, Swades and Jodhaa Akbar had the element of drama common to them. What's Your Rashi? is a light frothy romantic comedy. I've never done one of those before. After 10 years and three films that required me to do rigorous research at last I'm doing a film that requires no research.”

For heroines who have been talking of playing strong female characters and wanting to play roles where the actress is ever important…here’s food for thought. This film is going to be Priyanka all the way. After being chosen the “Goddess of Atlantis” and having Richard Branson all impressed Priyanka sure is the talk of the town these days. I loved watching "Rock On" and I am sure you all did too. It was a superb creation which yet again proved produer director turned actor and now singer, Farhan Akhtar's genius. Loved his actig, the songs and everything about the film.Taken beautifully , the film manages to keep alive the magic right till the end. The film rightly deserves the place in the Oscar library and surely makes India proud.

Farhan Akhtar has been in the news for his acting and singing talents and now he is a real star. From behind the camera to in front of it he has played both roles to perfection. Farhan is going to be seen in yet another new role. He is the brand ambassador for Maruti's newly launched small car "A-star". The interesting tagline says "Stop@Nothing". He is already there on hoardings (in fact, just passed by one yesterday and liked his subtle no-nonsense style). For Farhan Akhtar fans it sure is going to be good times ahead with him getting more adventurous and ready to experiment.

Asked about the news he says "Yes, I am endorsing Maruti's A-star. Besides the press ads,there's also a TV commercial that has been shot which will get aired by early next month". So Shahrukh Khan sure has competition now:)

"Yuuvraaj" all set for release tomorrow - 21 November, 2008

The crew of "Yuuvraaj"had a grand party for the success of the film's music. The film is all about music. In fact, Katrina Kaif took "Chello" lessons for playing her role in the film to perfection. The couple "Salman and Katrina" are eagerly looking forward to their film together. Will the Katrina Magic work for Salman? Will the film be a hit?

The film stars Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Mithun Chakraborty. The showman "Subhash Ghai" is the producer cum director of the film. With music by none other than A R Rehman (no wonder the music is a hit..however will the music be able to save the film). Asked about the film Katrina says "Yeah...I would definitely classify it as a drama….a musical drama, so to say. Apne was the first drama film which I had done. I was very nervous about Apne but thankfully the audiences ended up liking it. At the end of the day, our audience still reacts to films that are correct emotionally and that's what Yuvvraaj also is. It's a different kind of a film for me because I am more used to doing comedies. Initially I was a bit nervous but now I am glad that I did the film. The music plays an integral part of the film. When you see the tagline of the film it says, 'Music binds love'. Some people may call it cliched but for me music does play such an important part in my day to day life that I could completely identify with what the film is trying to say". the film posters surely have Katrina all the way. Yuuvraaj definitely is trying to cash in on the Katrina fever.

When I generally see the promos of a film I have this feeling of whether the film is a hit or flop. In fact, I guess most of us can pass a verdict at this stage itself. Actually I have wondered several times that when being a layman I can predict just seeing the promo then why the knowledgeable industry gurus go ahead and make such super flops. While going through a script itself they should be able to decipher between the good and the bad.

Anyway coming back to "Yuuvraaj" which is all set for release tomorrow the 21st of November, let's see what turn their lucks take. With less than 12 hours to go while I write this post, there is very little wait to know the result of all the efforts. All the best to all connected with the film. What do you feel- is "Yuuvraaj" a hit or flop? I sure do not have much hopes and am surely going to give it a miss(unless of course there's really something that inspires).

Anil Kapoor has made his mark on the international scene with Slumdog Millionaire

Anil Kapoor has beeen in the news for the past couple of months for being the actor who has maintained himself really really well. In fact, people have been even speculating whether he may be signed up as hero for daughter "Sonam Kapoor". A really young looking dad.

For now however, he is in the new for making a mark on an international level with his film "Slumdog Millionaire". It has released in the US and he is glad at the successful opening.With a big hype created by the media, it just maybe India's Oscar entry this year. Anil Kapoor had made his presence at the opening of the film. Accompanying him for the trip was none other than daughter "Sonam Kapoor".Papa trying hard to get daughter good exposure. As part of the promotion of the just released film he has been visiting many of the cities in the US. The film won the "People's Choice Award" at the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival.

The story is about a teenager from the slums whose life changes drastically with a victory. A win in a popular game show and the resultant money of 2 crores and how that makes a difference in the teenager's life. Anil Kapoor sharing his experiences of the trip abroad says "I am amazed with the reaction of the audiences in US, I saw the film along with audiences in one of the theatres in Los Angeles and at the end of the show there was a stunned silence which then broke into an applause. After seeing this I am eagerly wanting the film to release in India".

Katrina and Salman Khan in "Yuuvraaj"- hit or flop?

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif await the release of their forthcoming release "Yuvvraj". The film is all set to hit the theatres this Friday, the 21st of November , 2008. This is the first time that Katrina and Salman have been paired together onscreen. The film stars Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan.
Katrina with her series of hits is considered to be the most successful Bollywood actress (commericially) for now. The sources said "Katrina is considered to be a lucky mascot for her directors and Subhash is confident that Katrina will bring luck for him too".

In response to being asked about Katrina dominating or taking over the limelight in the Yuvvraj posters, the sources said "Katrina has done a fabulous job in Yuvvraj and Subhash has witnessed the dedication with which Katrina has worked in the film. Hence the solo hoarding".

Will the movie be a hit...I really don't have much hopes. If it does, then we can give the entire credit to Katrina the lucky charm.

Shilpa Shetty injures wrist

Shilpa Shetty has injured her wrist recently and is advised a 3 month rest. She says not knowing exactly when the injury occured "Either it happened because I was practicing cartwheels for my new action film or it could be because of the wear and tear that happens in weight training".

She however, cannot go on a complete holiday as her show Big Boss has shooting schedules planned in the next couple of days, also pending attention is Sunny Deol's "The Man". Being the good sport that she is Shilpa Shetty says ""I'll wear a long sleeve top for Bigg Boss and I'll wear a thick kada (bangle) for The Man,".

Shilpa is not one to just put up her feet and take rest for the next 3 months. She says this injury has come as a blessing in disguise. She can now pay attention to projects and personal things while on a rest. She says "I have started reading scripts that I did not have time to read earlier. But I am going to be very careful about what I say yes to. I want to do films where my character is exceptionally well developed. I don’t want to do multi-starrers".

Very sure of what she wants, Shilpa puts forward each step with care and planning. Wishing her a real quick recovery and hoping to see her more often on the silver screen.

Malaika Arora Khan to me was no where distantly connected to clothes (no offence intended...however her dressing style... with minimum clothes on....kept reminding me of this). I was however, surprised that this fashion diva has decided to venture into the field of clothes. Being the muse for her sister-in-law, Seema Khan,she probably decided to venture into it all by herself.

In all her shows she claims to understand fashion and be dressed for the occasion.Brother-in-law , Salman Khan too has plans to follow suit into the world of fashion and clothes. Anyway all the best Malaika...maybe we will see her in more clothes from now on...or am I wrong will this mean that many more people (whom she would dress up) would now be seen sporting the less clothes fashionable look. ShahRukh Khan in “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”

We sure are enjoying the soft melodious number “Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyar”, the first of his film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” Aditya Chopra film starring Shahrukh Khan and newcomer Anushka Sharma is all set for release this December. The movie looks rather different from the usual. Of course has to meet the boy meets girl drama, however, when it comes from the Yash banner it is different.

ShahRukh Khan however, I feel needs to put on a few kilos as there are cuts that have come on his face too. After the six-pack look for “Om Shanti Om” he has definitely overdone it for the cuts are no longer restricted to his abdomen alone. He needs to thin fast and get into some action soon regarding his weight before its too late.

The first promos of the film is to be released in theatres alongwith the Yash Raj banner distributed film “Dostana”. Marketing strategies these days are truly great. Our film makers sure have learnt a few good lessons in marketing. They have learnt to unfold the suspense little by little keeping the audience waiting for more. Aamir Khan of course, is surely the “Guru” in this field.

Coming back to the film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” , it is written and directed by Aditya Chopra. The music for the film is by Salim-Sulaiman and lyricsby Jaideep Sahni. The film has choreography by none other than Shiamak Davar and Vaibhavi Merchant. After the November release of “Dostana”, cine fans sure have something to look forward to in December too.

"Dostana" from the genius Karan Johar is the next big budget, rosy looking film that we all are looking forward to. The promos are out and Karan is introducing one song after the other. The Punjabi number and of course the hit number "Desi girl" are right on top of the charts. The trio seem to have done a great job. A movie about friendship (gay do I hear), love and life, the movie promises to deliver all that you deliver from a Karan Johar special. With enough emotions, fun, frolic and drama it is a complete package for the urban cine-goer. All set for release this November 14, it is definitely one movie that I am looking forward to seeing this month.

The movie is directed by Karan's assistant Taran Mansukhani.Shot in the beautiful locales of Miami , it is all fun...fun and fun....With Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra doing full justice to their characters, the film is sure to reach the expectations that it has already created. Priyanka is looking stunning after shedding all those extra kilos. “For Fashion, I had to put on six kilos and later had to shed chip by chip as the character progressed in the film. My body structure in Dostana is more toned than in Fashion as it is a completely beach film. I’ve worked very hard on my body,” Priyanka told IANS.

Happy Birthday Shahrukh is what I would love to say now. wishing my favorite star all the good things and all the best for all his future ventures. A super duper hero I do admire.

A self-made man that is the exact term that fits him. Coming to the Bollywood industry at a time when surnames made all the difference, Shahrukh proved that if you believe in it you can make it happen."What's in a name after all". From a young boy making a start from the television screen with serials like "circus" and "Fauji" he has worked real hard to be the King Khan of Bollywood. From a totally unknown name and face today just "SRK" says it all. A huge list of movies, personal achievements, successful business moves and millions of fans later Shah Rukh celebrates his 43rd brithday today on the 02nd of November 2008.

Shah Rukh surely is a super hero. what I like best about him is his zest and passion to do things. According to Aishwarya “Doing the Vogue cover was a promise I made to Anaita (Shroff Adajania) right from the time she joined the Vogue. Anaita was having a baby and she wanted me to do it before she delivers,” Aishwarya said to the NDTV news channel from London. Further she said “I was to do this shoot last month but I fell ill before I left for the world tour. So, we crossed notes and managed to do it on time in London just after we finished almost the last show of the tour.”

Shot in London after the successful "Unforgettable Tour", Aishwarya looks stunning with a few kilos lost. She sports a minimalistic look for the Vogue India First Anniversary special.

"Fashion" has sure created a hype in the last few days prior to release. However, will the film be able to meet the high expectations? In theatres with "Golmaal Returns" too stands as a disadvantage I guess especially with kids not being able to go for the film, parents would definitely opt for a fun fill with the full family.

"Fashion" has generated the curiosity of the typical Madhur Bhandarkar film. Every Madhur Bhandarkar film is definitely looked forward to with much enthusiasm. It has been taken as a general rule that a Madhur film comes straight from real life. Although there are rumors that "Fashion" is a take from the lives of some famous models, the star cast denies it totally. Of course every film that wants to portray a real life incident or person comes with the typical disclaimer of "does not relate to the life of any person living or dead" and so "Fashion" follows in the traditionally laid out safe path.

It definitely will have the entire "Fashion" industry checking it out for any similarities to anyone they know. The press, of course, is there to scrutinise it under the microscope for any resemblance to anyone living or dead. even a faint resemblance is going to turn into a huge powerful headline. Anything...just about anything at this time that makes news will definitely work in favor of the film.

Bollywood has been seeing a trend that has become really unpredictable. With mega budget glamorous films disappearing with so much as a sound is surprising. Is it that the preferences of the fans have changed or that film makers are unable to judge the likes and dislikes of their audience?

Films like "Jodha-Akbar" not rising to the expectations and again a fun-film like "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" getting favor from the fans in large numbers - what does it all say? Is it comedy and light hearted films that are liked by the audience, what with the success of Akshay Kumar's "Singh is Kinng". Then again comedy films like "De Taali", "Mere Baap Pehle Aap" and Govinda's comeback film "Money Hai to Honey Hai" couldn't generate any kind of interest. What does all this say about Bollywood, do brands really sell here, do names make a difference (then what went wrong with "Thoda Pyar thoda Magic" from the Chopra banner and backed by a glittering star cast?)

Do film makers have to seriously consider playing to the galleries? Does Bollywood need a complete revamp? "Rock On", the movie based on rock music is all set for its release on the 29th of August. Based on friendship and rock music the film stars Farhan Akhtar, Luke Kenny, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Koel Puri and Prachi Desai.

Farhan Akhtar has sang six out of the nine songs in the film. He has moved from back screen to the front of the camera. His acting career does not end with this, for Farhan Akhtar fans there is more to come with “Luck By chance” and “The Fakir of Venice”. “Voice from the Sky” is going to be his next directorial venture.
Farhan Akhtar in the film "rock On" plays the character "Aditya" whose life is all about music. The film is the story of four friends played by Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal (as Joe Mascarenhas)a passionate guitarist, Purab Kohli (as Kedar Zaveri)the drummer and Luke Kenny(as Rob Nancy). The story about friendship and music and ultimately how they turn their dream into reality.

It is directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The music is by none other than Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.So for all fans tomorrow is the D-day when the film hits the theatres.
