Love Aaj Kal releases today –Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone
Just a few hours to go for the Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone Love Aaj Kal to be at the theatres. The Friday fans…the first day first show kind are definitely waiting. The film sure has been in the news lately with the beard of Saif Ali Khan and some scenes from the film hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.
Saif’s debut production venture did run into trouble with the Punjab Cultural and Heritage Board raising objection to Saif’s trimmed beard look and the Sardar wooing a girl at the Gurudwara scene, however alls well that ends well. Issues are all sorted out and for the fans it is first day first show today. Saif visited the Gurudwara and paid his respects and apologized at a press conference later. A 15 seconds cut in the film and an apology has ensured a safe release for Saif. Saif said “the board had a problem with the film, which was legitimate, Gurudwara is a place of worship and we should not be disrespect that. Even though my film did not try to disrespect, we will edit the sequence". The President of the Punjab Cultural and Heritage Board Mr. Charan Singh Sapra said “this is to inform all the people in Bollywood that we will not accept anymore letters henceforth, if you have any problem come and consult the board free of cost, and we will help you portray Sikh characters, this is the last time we are letting a film get away with this".
This is definitely a strong message to the Bollywood film makers. However, with controversies resolved Bollywood definitely stands to gain as there would be more people who would like to see the film now after the big hue and cry that has been going on for some days now. The film has a fresh and nice feel going by the promos….will it make it to the list of hits…the clock ticks away rapidly to bring you the answer….wait and watch.
Amrita Rao steps into Katrina’s shoes in Life Partner
With Katrina deciding to take a break and holidaying with family in London it was Amrita Rao who had it all going good for her. The Abbas-Mastan film was a big hit and so Katrina was the obvious choice for the sequel Life Partner. However, with Katrina not being able to spare any dates for the shooting it was Amrita Rao who was approached and yes, she readily agreed.
The film would have Amrita being paired opposite none other than Chi Chi ( don’t know how the couple would look…right now it seems a perfect 10…no pun intended guys). Genelia D’souza(Sanjana) and Fardeen Khan(Karan) is the other pair in the film and with the promos already out, the film seems to be surely generating some interest. There is also a third couple in the film – Tusshar Kapoor(Bhavesh) and Prachi Desai. A bunch of youngsters its going to be (will Chi Chi who plays a divorce lawyer Jeet in the film Life Partner too fit this category).
The film as the name suggests is all about Life and your Partner. Marriage - is it important to walk the age old path of love and marriage or is being single the mantra to happiness? Is it important to put the seal of marriage for a relationship to be successful and happiness to creep in? Is arranged marriage the way to go or love marriage the ultimate stop? Is family an important part of any marriage, is it important to be a good daughter-in-law to fit the mould and being your husband's ideal woman? Many films have in the past decided to look at marriage and life from different angles and here is yet another one. Of course, the approach does matter, hope Life Partner is able to bring in a fresh feel to the same giza pita subject. Shaadi ka ladoo jo khaya woh pachtaya jo nahi khaya woh bhi pachtaya. With the institution of marriage being so very important in our society it is yet another Bollywood movie that takes you on an introspection of life and marriage.
It has all the ingredients for the perfect Bollywood masala flick, but whether Life Partner manages to impress the audience only time will tell. With the release date of August 14th fast approaching do we see the seats filling up or is it yet another come and go for Bollywood? It is going to be a release for Genelia D’souza after a long gap and hope she is able to recreate the Jaane Tu Jaane Na magic.Prachi Desai too needs a hit after her Rock On performance to seal her place in Bollywood.

Saif’s pocket picked at Love Aaj Kal Promotional campaign
With the countdown for the release having begun for Love Aaj Kal, the fans seem to be looking forward to the 31st of July. The film however seems to be drawing attention from more than just fans. First it was Saif’s beard which have the Punjabi Cultural and Heritage Board taking offence, now the next is Saif and director Imtiaza Ali being pick pocketed.
If you have been wondering if this is a part of some film’s plot, no, this is true. Saif and Imtiaz Ali the director of Love Aaj Kal while at Ahmedabad for the promotional campaign of their film ran into trouble. Their pockets were picked and Saif lost his pair of Dolce & Gabanna glares in the incident while Imtiaz Ali lost his driving license and credit cards. The place was so crowded that identifying the pick-pocketer was next to impossible. While Saif baba consoled himself saying that it must have been some fan wanting to add the item’s to his collection, Imtiaz Ali surely could not console himself that way. Bollywood too is not spared now by the pick pocketers. As for the film, it surely is in the news these days….whether for the right reasons or otherwise. As for Deepika the actress of Love Aaj Kal currently it is rest time as she is down with malaria while at the location of the film Housefull. With Friday fast approaching the cast and crew of the film sure hope that the everything goes well and the fans flock to the theatre in large numbers.

Kambakht Ishq – Akshay Kumar Kareena Kapoor starrer releases today
After the long break of two months when the disagreement between the film fraternity and the multiplexes ensured that no Bollywood movie hit the theatres, now it is time for the fans to get back to the theatres with their bag of popcorn - salted or caramelized. The first of the big budget films to be released is the Kareena Kapoor-Akshay Kumar starrer Kambakht Ishq. Friday the 3rd of July today is the release date for the film and the movie starved fans are definitely going to make it to a theatres near them to watch Kareena and Akshay sizzle. Will the long gap ensure that the movie turns out to be a hit or will the audience be very critical and rate the movie realistically… the next few days will say it all.
Kambakht Ishq , the Bollywood movie is directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. A big budget film, it is a remake of the Tamil film, Pammal K. Sambandana. The other actors in the film include Amrita Arora (she has her Shortkut: The Con is on releasing next Friday) and Aftab Shivdasani. The star attraction is Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone who is doing a cameo for the film.
The film has Akshay Kumar(Viraj Shergill) playing a stunt man and Kareena Kapoor(Simrita Rai) the super-model. With the two not able to stand each other right from the beginning, let’s see how fate brings them together and life takes a complete turn. The film is important for Akki especially after his Chandni Chowk to Chinatown bombed at the box office. Will the film be able to create the magic that it is expected to or is this just another big budget film that would come and go?
Amrita Rao has a makeover for Short Kut: The Con is On
Amrita Rao the petite girl from Ishq Vishk and Vivah has undergone a complete makeover for het latest film Short Kut: The Con is On. The film produced by Anil Kapoor Productions has Amrita playing a role very different from her next door girl image. She says “Since the plot is about a film within a film, I play my real self on reel. My character is an actress, so I am dolled up all the time. I must thank Manish Malhotra for coming up with costumes that go with my new look”. She sports eight different looks in the film. She further adds “This character is far more glamorous than other characters I have player in the past, but Shyam Benegal’s Welcome to Sajjanpur and Rsjshri’s Vivaah have instilled a sense of confidence in me to take up any kind of role. Working on these two films has given me maximum satisfaction and a lot of good offers too. It is a glam role with different costumes, but there’s nothing vulgar in it”.
Going by the promos of the film, it looks like a fun film and Amrita Rao adds a glam touch to it. With Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi, the comedy looks great. The film revolves around the making of a film. So it is actually a film within a film as Amrita puts it. I think I am going to be at th theatres to watch this one, how about you. The film is to hit the theatres on the 10th of July, 2009.
