Kambakht Ishq – Akshay Kumar Kareena Kapoor starrer releases today

After the long break of two months when the disagreement between the film fraternity and the multiplexes ensured that no Bollywood movie hit the theatres, now it is time for the fans to get back to the theatres with their bag of popcorn - salted or caramelized. The first of the big budget films to be released is the Kareena Kapoor-Akshay Kumar starrer Kambakht Ishq. Friday the 3rd of July today is the release date for the film and the movie starved fans are definitely going to make it to a theatres near them to watch Kareena and Akshay sizzle. Will the long gap ensure that the movie turns out to be a hit or will the audience be very critical and rate the movie realistically… the next few days will say it all.

Kambakht Ishq , the Bollywood movie is directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. A big budget film, it is a remake of the Tamil film, Pammal K. Sambandana. The other actors in the film include Amrita Arora (she has her Shortkut: The Con is on releasing next Friday) and Aftab Shivdasani. The star attraction is Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone who is doing a cameo for the film.

The film has Akshay Kumar(Viraj Shergill) playing a stunt man and Kareena Kapoor(Simrita Rai) the super-model. With the two not able to stand each other right from the beginning, let’s see how fate brings them together and life takes a complete turn. The film is important for Akki especially after his Chandni Chowk to Chinatown bombed at the box office. Will the film be able to create the magic that it is expected to or is this just another big budget film that would come and go?

Akshay Kumar gets wife Twinkle to unbutton him on Lakme Fashion Week

Lakme Fashion week this year has been a star studded affair with several Bollywood stars right from the King Khan walking the ramp. shahrukh looked stylish as ever even with one hand in sling. However, it is Akshay Kumar the show stopper who actually has got all the attention with his act. The actor walked the ramp then walked over to his wife Twinkle and got her to unbutton his jeans. There is a suit already filed against him for the act. Being brand ambassador for Levi's "unbuttoned" he probably found it to be just another act , however social worker Anil P Nayar found it objectionable. When asked Akshay Kumar said " There is nothing wrong in it. Everybody unbuttons himself or gets unbuttoned by someone. What's the big deal about it?".

Akshay there are a lot of things we do on a regular basis however, there are some things that are best left behind closed doors. Bollywood has crossed all barriers and brought things on screen but does this cross the basics of decency and move on to the realm of indecency and vulgarity. The limits for each one and his perceptions are different. For me this is a little too much to handle (you may call it conservative attitude though).

How about you? Do you feel endorsing and trying to advertise something can go to just about any limits?

Chandni Chowk to Chinatown – some great Kungfu and comedy moments

With “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and “Ghajini” being the icing on the cake for the year 2008, Bollywood fans have already started looking forward to what the New Year has in store. The New Year too is going to be a great beginning for Bollywood fans what with the much awaited “Chandni Chowk to Chinatown” all set for a Jan 16th release. Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone will be seen together in the film and would perform some great stunts. A wonderful display of martial arts and also promising you a good laugh is the film that is a partial take from Akshy Kumar’s own life.

Born in Chandni Chowk(Delhi) the actor made his way to Bangkok where he worked as a chef and also learned martial arts before he reached the world of Bollywood. He plays the role of a halwai from Chandni Chowk in the film (Siddhu) and is all about the journey to China and the ups and downs in his life. This is a prestigious project (Akshay sure has his hands full with a lot of good work) as it is Warner Bros. Picture first Bollywood film. Some great action , comedy, beauty and drama the film promises to be a complete entertainment package.

“Welcome” – a real Bollywood masala mix-movie review

Yet another bollywood masala - "Welcome" – from the hit popular director Anees Bazmee. Bollywood movie is a hit at the box office like his other films. This Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer is in the theatres now – your latest bollywood release. A bollywood comedy without any particular story line – a body without a head, that is what this multi-starrer “Welcome” is all about. It is Bollywood masala with no plot but clean plain fun. A film for the entire family. May sound a little clichéd like they say for all new bollywood movies but this is a good fun experience.

The plot if I may say so revolves around how a Don or underworld ruler family of Nana Patekar(Uday) and Anil Kapoor(Majnu bhai) are trying to find a great guy for their one and only little sister- Katrina(Sanjana). Paresh Rawal playing the character of Dr. Ghungroo in the film is also on a match making spree too. He is girl hunting so to say for his simple straight forward nephew Akshay Kumar. He wants a simple good girl and that too from a family with any kind of criminal background or negative shades. As luck would have it Paresh Rawal reaches you know where……

The comedy is good but don’t have great expectations. With Majnu Bhai (Anil Kapoor) proving yet again his flair for comedy. Supporting actors Feroze Khan or RDX in the film have not managed to be make a big contribution to the film. A total timepass comedy if you don’t have anything to do on the weekend the theatres with “Welcome” is well ok to be.

For parents who are worried about Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat in the film, you can go with kids without worry. A song and a scene and Mallika too can be passed of with a “U”. That probably would be a sigh of relief for most parents. Children at the theatre did have fun and with the holidays it sure is going to be a bindass family watch.
