Aamir Khan celebrates 46th birthday

The immensely talented Aamir Khan turns 46 today. Aamir who came in with the chocolate boy image in QSQT(Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak) opposite Juhi Chawla is celebrating his 46th birthday today. He is one actor who has truly evolved with time and has emerged a real hero. Getting better with time is what the actor has gone on to prove. From the chocolate hero to serious roles, comedy, directing and a keen business sense he has it all and is truly rocking.
A lavish birthday bash as is the industry practice is not what Aamir plans for his special day. He has instead taken the day off and has decided to spend a quite day with his mother, wife and family. Wishing Aamir a very happy birthday and looking forward to more of his spectacular performances in the year ahead.

Aamir Khan takes on social responsibility

Aamir Khan the perfectionist has assumed a whole new role yet again. I am an Aamir Khan fan I must admit right at the beginning itself. I love his film, style and his sincerity towards everything that he takes up. People have been trying to analyse reasons of his terrific success for long now. How did Ghajini do so well at the box office inspite of recession and bad times otherwise at the box office? This is a plain simple formula - an intelligent mind with a hardworking attitude. With this combination you just cannot go wrong is what I believe.

The talented actor, director, producer Aamir as donned several different hats over the past few years. Here is presenting Aamir in a new and different role. The actor has taken on the social responsibility of educating people regarding how important it is to exercise your voting rights. The actor with his huge fan following would be able to make a big difference. With several actors campaigning for different parties , Aamir has decided to stay away from active politics and still do his bit towards fulfilling his social responsibility. When asked about turning to politics full time , he said acting is his passion and he would love to continue with that.

This is one actor I feel who makes the time and has the inclination to make a real difference.

The Clash of the Titans at the Box Ofiice

It is going to be a show of sorts at the box office this month with the Clash of the Titans. The month is going to be a real treat for the Bolly fans…what with Shahrukh coming with the Yash Raj banner release on the 12 of December “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”. Following him is Aamir with Ghajini the much awaited release of Aamir this year. Then we also have the animated film “Jumbo” where Akshay has lend his voice and also has a major stake. The cine goers are going to be in for some action this festive season.

“Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” said to be a love story of a different kind looks like a soft romantic love story with the typical Yash Raj stamp. This sure is going to appeal to the family audience. When on the other hand, Ghajini is a mixture of the hard and the soft, love and violence, it looks like a thing for the serious movie fans. The AR Rahman music has still not managed to create the usual magic.

Both films have fresh new faces opposite the Khans. “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” has the newcomer Anushka opposite SRK and in “Ghajini” the south sensation Asin makes her debut into Bollywood. Yash Raj banner is sure keeping their fingers crossed with a string of films that didn’t do well at the box office. Will the Yash Rah magic work this time or does the year belong to “Aamir”. With just a few days to go the Bollywood fans definitely have lots to look forward to.

Aamir Khan-Shahrukh the King Khan and the blog dog issue

Aamir Khan recently created a huge furore by calling Bollywood actor Shahrukh “ a dog” in his blog. Shahrukh reaced to it and what next it made the headlines for a few days to come. Not only the newspapers and the Bollywood magazines cashed in on the hot news and also blew it out of proportion but also the online world was buzzing with activity. Aamir sure hada huge number of hits on his blog after the blog post. Here is an excerpt from the post which was at the eye of the storm.

“I’m sitting under a tree, on the edge of a valley, approximately 5000 feet above sea level. The river Krishna flows far below us snaking its way among the Sahyadri mountains. A cool breeze is blowing, jannat ki hawa (breeze from the heavens), as my mother calls it. Ammi, Ira and Junaid are by my side and we are in the middle of one of our favourite board games ‘Settlers Of Catan’. Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for?

Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog. And before you jump to any further conclusions let me add that I had nothing to do with naming him. In fact Shahrukh is the dog of the caretakers of our house. When I bought this house it came with the caretakers and their dog! Apparently Shahrukh (the actor) was shooting for a commercial in this house a few years ago, and that very day the caretakers bought a pup…, and named him Shahrukh. What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh!!!

Some of my friends claim that I bought the house just because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. Your guess…

All I can say is I’m waiting for him to come over,

Getting back to Settlers of Catan, it’s a wonderful game. You must try it if you are fond of board games.

All in all I am having a great time with my mom and kids here in my favorite place on earth, Panchgani. I think Kiran and I must have done something good in our life to be blessed with this great place to get away to.

My hamstring muscle seems to be healing, slowly but surely.

Catching up on films, saw Casino Royale last night which I liked.

Incidentally Panchgani is a favorite with para-gliders. Now that’s something I am going to learn as soon as I finish with the Ghajini shoot.

Well Shahrukh is once again begging for my attention, so let me get back to him. He is smelling too much, I think he needs a bath. “Heel boy, heel.”

Now guys what do you think, wasn’t that a real nasty piece to write that too from someone of Aamir’s stature. Of course we are all glad that he apologized but being a big Aamir fan I was rather disappointed at his rude sense of humor. With Bollywood actors like Aamir , Amitabh Bachchan the Big B and now Salman and many more joining the blogging world, blogs must be put forward rather carefully. With them being huge icons and having a huge fan following upon them lies a responsibility to be the role model. A sensitive portrayal – Aamir’s brainchild – “Taare Zameen Par”-movie review

It was the interest of my 8 year old daughter and her interes to see Aamir film that made me venture out to the theatres. The virant and lively catchy tunes of "Bam Bam Bole" and the little clips of the film did manage to strike a chord I must admit with me too. The curiosity that a film draws must admit is terrific and this being his directorial debut had a strong attractive power. A lazy Sunday afternoon decided to be spent in the theatre turned out to be an absolute learning experience. A learning experience like no other.

Dyslexia is what the film mainly dealt with. A learning disorder I have (like many others) definitely come across this in several books, shows and magazines. This however, was a real eye opener. The intensity of the condition and how it can take you on a real roller coaster ride has been portrayed very sensitively in the film. This probably was a learning experience for many adults, parents, teachers and all those connected to the academic field. If you have been able to give it a good hearing it has struck a chord somewhere within you. That is what Taare Zameen Par is.a film that has taken Bollywood by surprise. Taare Zameen Par has proved that you do not need an action thriller or a masala story to make a hit.

This truly is yet another feather in Aamir’s cap. It proves his credibility not only as an actor but also a creator, a person who has the ability to visualize and give it the right shape. Yet another side of the multi-faceted personality of Aamir.

"Taare Zameen Par" is a sensitive portrayal of the journey of a dyslexic child. It has been dealt with in a superb style and sensitivity. A serious issue dealt with in a light and fun-filled manner that each one of us is ready to give it a patient hearing. He has brought to light a huge issue that many have turned their backs too or have just overlooked.

In the rat race that we all are running today and getting our child to run being a topper, a high performer is all that has come to matter. We fail to recognize the individual ability or talent that our child shows. Every child is different and it is important to understand that in the first place. Each child is blessed with a unique set of skills and talents, it is important to recognize, understand and encourage it. . All it requires is some time and understanding. You would then surely be the parent of a topper who excels in his chosen field. His chosen field is what is important here.

The film is a milestone in the history of Bollywood and is what is the headline of Bollywood news today. A simple message of understanding and relating to one’s child is beautifully presented. You are the guide, the leader, your little one is too young to understand the right from the wrong. You must lead him or her to the right path rather than get them lost somewhere on the way and blame them for it. It is you as an adult , as a parent, who must extend your hand forward for timely help.

Aamir has proved himself to be a good actor and also found the right characters to portray the shades he wanted. Darsheel Safary or Ishaan Awasthi as we know him now has played his character to perfection. You have to be your child's best friend and be by his side. Like the character Ishaan Awasthi your little one may not find a mentor like Ram Shankar Nikumbh to get him out of a situation like this. You have to be by his/her side and lead them the right way and hold them before they fall and get hurt.

Cheers to Aamir for a terrific film that is going to go down in Bollywood history as one masterpiece. A beautiful film after long that has been able to retain my attention till the very end.Unlike most Bollywood Films, "Taare Zameen Par" has maintained the tempo throughout. The film has not lost focus mid-way. A complete and wonderful package to all age groups is what “Taare Zameen Par” brings for us.
