The Google news has added yet another feather in the cap of this gorgeous Bollywood actress. She has been declared the “Most Popular Bollywood Celebrity”. She tops the list for the maximum number of searches made. Katrina sure is going places and we wish her all the best.

Chandni Chowk to Chinatown – some great Kungfu and comedy moments

With “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and “Ghajini” being the icing on the cake for the year 2008, Bollywood fans have already started looking forward to what the New Year has in store. The New Year too is going to be a great beginning for Bollywood fans what with the much awaited “Chandni Chowk to Chinatown” all set for a Jan 16th release. Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone will be seen together in the film and would perform some great stunts. A wonderful display of martial arts and also promising you a good laugh is the film that is a partial take from Akshy Kumar’s own life.

Born in Chandni Chowk(Delhi) the actor made his way to Bangkok where he worked as a chef and also learned martial arts before he reached the world of Bollywood. He plays the role of a halwai from Chandni Chowk in the film (Siddhu) and is all about the journey to China and the ups and downs in his life. This is a prestigious project (Akshay sure has his hands full with a lot of good work) as it is Warner Bros. Picture first Bollywood film. Some great action , comedy, beauty and drama the film promises to be a complete entertainment package.

Priyanka to be seen in a two piece swim suit

If this is what is true love it is really wonderful. A successful and busy actress who makes no bones about her relationship in public is there to stand by her sweet heart when the need arises. Yes, I am talking of our very own Piggy Chops Priyanks Chopra. The bombing of “Love Story 2050” at the box office and her recent success with “Fashion” and “Dostana” have not in any way affected her personal life and relationships.

Beau Harman Baweja’s film , remember “Victory” we had heard of sometime back is now almost ready. The film however, seems to be in a lot of crisis. First some production problems and now the new dilemma of no takers. It can be really bad…when you are all set for release and you have no takers at all. From the distributors point of view , we can quite understand too, going by the recession and the present trend in Bollywood they definitely do not want to put their money in a non-starter. With “Love Story 2050” bombing and Harman too not able to create any waves , the future of “Vistory” too looks quite bleak. For a fresh lease of life , Harman has approached his successful girlfriend to bail him out, and guess what she has readily agreed to do so too. Priyanka Chopra is to do an item number for this cricket-based film. She would be seen in a two piece swim suit for the film. Will that be able to save the film and give Harman’s career a new lease of life?

Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan to come together in “The Legend of Kunal”

After the film “Cheeni Kum” which wasin which both Amitabh and Tabu were appreciated greatly for their performances, they come together once again. This time it is a period film titled “The Legend of Kunal”. The cast selection is great must say both Tabu and Amitabh will sure be able to do full justice to roles like this. The film is to be produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd and is based on the story of the life of Emperor Ashoka. Amitabh Bachchan is to play the role of Emperor Ashoka and is accompanied by Tabu in the role of “Tishyarakshitra”, his wife. The part of Ashoka’s wife is that of a very strong lady who has played a very influential part in his life and that of his empire.

The director Chandraprakash Dwivedi says “Tabu had not a moment's hesitation in saying yes to the role of emperor Ashoka's powerful wife Tishyarakshitra, so powerful she swayed the entire Mauryan empire with her politics and aura. We needed an actress with the strength of conviction. I wouldn't make Ashoka without him. As for Tabu, she plays his young, fiery, assertive wife. She's an actress I've wanted to work with for a very long time. Again, only she could play Tishyarakshitra”. The two talented actors are best suited for the role and would do full justice to the characters played by them. Is this going to be a period film we would look forward to? Will it match up to the grandeur of “Jodhaa Akbar”? Am I getting too many thoughts started…anyway there’s plenty of time. We will just hope it turns out to be one film that we would love and also one that kids enjoy watching and get a glimpse of their history.

Shahrukh Khan now “Datuk Shahrukh Khan”

This weekend saw Shahrukh flying into Malaysia to receive the coveted title of the “Datuk”. The title is similar to the knighthood of Britain. It is indeed a great honor and SRK is the first Indian actor to receive it. SRK wore the traditional Malaysian dress and all dressed smartly in black and gold made a grand entry to receive to. The fans definitely were floored to see their favorite actor. There were 76 others who received the title and Shahrukh made it a point to acknowledge the presence of his fans. A star in all respects.

The Malacca authorities said “Khan was given the title because some of his movies had been shot in the historical state boosting tourism”. Shahrukh Khan, many other Bollywood and popular Tamil actors are very popular in the land considering its huge ethnic population. Shahrukh has an injured arm as a result of an accident on one of the locations however, this did not in anyway restrict him for being the friendly star he is. He even took a rickshaw ride through Malacca. However, there are quite a few people who are definitely not happy with the decision and there is a big controversy going on as regards why SRK has been chosen for the title.

Glimpses of "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi"

Here's bringing for you a few glimpses of the forthcoming Yash Raj attraction, starring Shahrukh Khan and newcomer Anushka Sharma. The film has got Aditya Chopra behind the camera after a long break of seven years. This is going to be Shahrukh's first major release of the year after a guest appearance in "Bhoothnath".


The film has decided to ban a Pakistan release for now going by the present crisis between the two countries. Mahesh Bhatt who was responsible for taking Bollywood films to Pakistan says "Terrorism affects everything. It will definitely create a major setback in the Indo-Pakistan relationship. I guess both countries should behave responsibly and deal with terrorism. But for the time being, we should let things fall in place. When these issues are resolved, we can get back to working together. Right now, we have a larger issue to deal with. Whether the film releases simultaneously or not, piracy is and will always be a major issue around. We have to take steps to curb that first".

The Clash of the Titans at the Box Ofiice

It is going to be a show of sorts at the box office this month with the Clash of the Titans. The month is going to be a real treat for the Bolly fans…what with Shahrukh coming with the Yash Raj banner release on the 12 of December “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”. Following him is Aamir with Ghajini the much awaited release of Aamir this year. Then we also have the animated film “Jumbo” where Akshay has lend his voice and also has a major stake. The cine goers are going to be in for some action this festive season.

“Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” said to be a love story of a different kind looks like a soft romantic love story with the typical Yash Raj stamp. This sure is going to appeal to the family audience. When on the other hand, Ghajini is a mixture of the hard and the soft, love and violence, it looks like a thing for the serious movie fans. The AR Rahman music has still not managed to create the usual magic.

Both films have fresh new faces opposite the Khans. “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” has the newcomer Anushka opposite SRK and in “Ghajini” the south sensation Asin makes her debut into Bollywood. Yash Raj banner is sure keeping their fingers crossed with a string of films that didn’t do well at the box office. Will the Yash Rah magic work this time or does the year belong to “Aamir”. With just a few days to go the Bollywood fans definitely have lots to look forward to.

Katrina Kaif on "Vogue" Cover page

Bollywood actresses sure have taken on a lot these days. The magazine cover pages, judging television reality shows and being an integral parts of the promotional campaigns of films. Some years back the Bollywood fraternity was just restricted to the silver screen and of course the cover page of film magazines. A filmfare or some other award function and you would probably see the actor or actress on the cover page of “India Today” or some of the other popular magazines. However, today it is them on almost all the glamour magazine cover pages.

I had made a few recent posts with Aishwarya, Priyanka and Deepika Padukone on the cover page of Vogue India, Verve and Jade. I am again back with more cover page news. Katrina Kaif, the commercial queen of Bollywood stars on the latest Vogue Cover page. The December issue has Katrina looking hot and gorgeous as ever. Katrina sure has it going great for her with the series of hits with Akshay. Although “Yuuvraaj”her film with Salman didn’t do too well at the box office, Katrina still continues to be the ruling queen especially when it comes to comedies. Fans sure are looking forward to the next Akshay-Katrina starrer….what say Katrina fans?

Priyanka Chopra to play 12 roles in “What’s your Rashi?”

If all you Priyanka fans have still not got enough of your favorite stars with just “Fashion” and “Dostana” then here’s presenting “What’s you Rashi?”. The actress is all set to play 12 different roles in Ashutosh Gowatrikar’s next titled “What’s Your Rashi?” . If you though Sanjeev Kapoor set the recors for multiple role then here’s more action coming your way. She is paired opposite beau Harman Baweja in the film. We definitely look forward to some fireworks(definitely not the “Lovestory 2050” kind). Of course coming from Ashutosh Gowatrikar it sure is going to have a touch of brilliance. Speaking about the film he says “Lagaan, Swades and Jodhaa Akbar had the element of drama common to them. What's Your Rashi? is a light frothy romantic comedy. I've never done one of those before. After 10 years and three films that required me to do rigorous research at last I'm doing a film that requires no research.”

For heroines who have been talking of playing strong female characters and wanting to play roles where the actress is ever important…here’s food for thought. This film is going to be Priyanka all the way. After being chosen the “Goddess of Atlantis” and having Richard Branson all impressed Priyanka sure is the talk of the town these days. Way to go girl…after all “Why should boys have all the fun?”.

Farhan Akhtar - brand ambassador for Maruti

I loved watching "Rock On" and I am sure you all did too. It was a superb creation which yet again proved produer director turned actor and now singer, Farhan Akhtar's genius. Loved his actig, the songs and everything about the film.Taken beautifully , the film manages to keep alive the magic right till the end. The film rightly deserves the place in the Oscar library and surely makes India proud.

Farhan Akhtar has been in the news for his acting and singing talents and now he is a real star. From behind the camera to in front of it he has played both roles to perfection. Farhan is going to be seen in yet another new role. He is the brand ambassador for Maruti's newly launched small car "A-star". The interesting tagline says "Stop@Nothing". He is already there on hoardings (in fact, just passed by one yesterday and liked his subtle no-nonsense style). For Farhan Akhtar fans it sure is going to be good times ahead with him getting more adventurous and ready to experiment.

Asked about the news he says "Yes, I am endorsing Maruti's A-star. Besides the press ads,there's also a TV commercial that has been shot which will get aired by early next month". So Shahrukh Khan sure has competition now:)

"Yuuvraaj" all set for release tomorrow - 21 November, 2008

The crew of "Yuuvraaj"had a grand party for the success of the film's music. The film is all about music. In fact, Katrina Kaif took "Chello" lessons for playing her role in the film to perfection. The couple "Salman and Katrina" are eagerly looking forward to their film together. Will the Katrina Magic work for Salman? Will the film be a hit?

The film stars Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Mithun Chakraborty. The showman "Subhash Ghai" is the producer cum director of the film. With music by none other than A R Rehman (no wonder the music is a hit..however will the music be able to save the film). Asked about the film Katrina says "Yeah...I would definitely classify it as a drama….a musical drama, so to say. Apne was the first drama film which I had done. I was very nervous about Apne but thankfully the audiences ended up liking it. At the end of the day, our audience still reacts to films that are correct emotionally and that's what Yuvvraaj also is. It's a different kind of a film for me because I am more used to doing comedies. Initially I was a bit nervous but now I am glad that I did the film. The music plays an integral part of the film. When you see the tagline of the film it says, 'Music binds love'. Some people may call it cliched but for me music does play such an important part in my day to day life that I could completely identify with what the film is trying to say". the film posters surely have Katrina all the way. Yuuvraaj definitely is trying to cash in on the Katrina fever.

When I generally see the promos of a film I have this feeling of whether the film is a hit or flop. In fact, I guess most of us can pass a verdict at this stage itself. Actually I have wondered several times that when being a layman I can predict just seeing the promo then why the knowledgeable industry gurus go ahead and make such super flops. While going through a script itself they should be able to decipher between the good and the bad.

Anyway coming back to "Yuuvraaj" which is all set for release tomorrow the 21st of November, let's see what turn their lucks take. With less than 12 hours to go while I write this post, there is very little wait to know the result of all the efforts. All the best to all connected with the film. What do you feel- is "Yuuvraaj" a hit or flop? I sure do not have much hopes and am surely going to give it a miss(unless of course there's really something that inspires).

Anil Kapoor has made his mark on the international scene with Slumdog Millionaire

Anil Kapoor has beeen in the news for the past couple of months for being the actor who has maintained himself really really well. In fact, people have been even speculating whether he may be signed up as hero for daughter "Sonam Kapoor". A really young looking dad.

For now however, he is in the new for making a mark on an international level with his film "Slumdog Millionaire". It has released in the US and he is glad at the successful opening.With a big hype created by the media, it just maybe India's Oscar entry this year. Anil Kapoor had made his presence at the opening of the film. Accompanying him for the trip was none other than daughter "Sonam Kapoor".Papa trying hard to get daughter good exposure. As part of the promotion of the just released film he has been visiting many of the cities in the US. The film won the "People's Choice Award" at the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival.

The story is about a teenager from the slums whose life changes drastically with a victory. A win in a popular game show and the resultant money of 2 crores and how that makes a difference in the teenager's life. Anil Kapoor sharing his experiences of the trip abroad says "I am amazed with the reaction of the audiences in US, I saw the film along with audiences in one of the theatres in Los Angeles and at the end of the show there was a stunned silence which then broke into an applause. After seeing this I am eagerly wanting the film to release in India".

Katrina and Salman Khan in "Yuuvraaj"- hit or flop?

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif await the release of their forthcoming release "Yuvvraj". The film is all set to hit the theatres this Friday, the 21st of November , 2008. This is the first time that Katrina and Salman have been paired together onscreen. The film stars Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan.
Katrina with her series of hits is considered to be the most successful Bollywood actress (commericially) for now. The sources said "Katrina is considered to be a lucky mascot for her directors and Subhash is confident that Katrina will bring luck for him too".

In response to being asked about Katrina dominating or taking over the limelight in the Yuvvraj posters, the sources said "Katrina has done a fabulous job in Yuvvraj and Subhash has witnessed the dedication with which Katrina has worked in the film. Hence the solo hoarding".

Will the movie be a hit...I really don't have much hopes. If it does, then we can give the entire credit to Katrina the lucky charm.

Shilpa Shetty injures wrist

Shilpa Shetty has injured her wrist recently and is advised a 3 month rest. She says not knowing exactly when the injury occured "Either it happened because I was practicing cartwheels for my new action film or it could be because of the wear and tear that happens in weight training".

She however, cannot go on a complete holiday as her show Big Boss has shooting schedules planned in the next couple of days, also pending attention is Sunny Deol's "The Man". Being the good sport that she is Shilpa Shetty says ""I'll wear a long sleeve top for Bigg Boss and I'll wear a thick kada (bangle) for The Man,".

Shilpa is not one to just put up her feet and take rest for the next 3 months. She says this injury has come as a blessing in disguise. She can now pay attention to projects and personal things while on a rest. She says "I have started reading scripts that I did not have time to read earlier. But I am going to be very careful about what I say yes to. I want to do films where my character is exceptionally well developed. I don’t want to do multi-starrers".

Very sure of what she wants, Shilpa puts forward each step with care and planning. Wishing her a real quick recovery and hoping to see her more often on the silver screen.

After Bheja Fry , I am sure going to be in the theatres for "Dasvidaniya". Vinay Pathak and Neha Dhupia in an innocent looking film. Vinay Pathak sure is an actor with a lot of potential.

Kareena Kapoor - great admiration for Saif's ex-wife, Amrita Singh

Kareena Kapoor has proved her magnanimity with an interview where she admitted her admiration for Saif's ex-wife Amrita Singh. Having got into the good books of Saif's family and also kids , guess its time to break ice with the most affected party.

Kareena said, “I respect the fact that Saif was married before and has two lovely children. I have been a fan of Amrita Singh. I haven’t met her ever but I know her through her films. For me, she’ll always have a place of importance in his life because she is Saif Ali Khan’s first wife and the mother of his children. And, I’ve told Saif this. I would want her to have that kind of respect always. This is what my parents have taught me. At the end of the day, it was just a marriage that didn’t work out. I have always encouraged Saif to be friends with her because I think that would be great. I guess they will just need time but that’s something that they would need to deal with. I will always respect her. As far as any other relationship of Saif is concerned, I don’t think they really mattered.”

Malaika Arora Khan to launch clothes line

Malaika Arora Khan (wife of Arbaaz Khan and sister-in-law of actor Salman Khan) and clothes....did I hear it right? Malaika Arora Khan to me was no where distantly connected to clothes (no offence intended...however her dressing style... with minimum clothes on....kept reminding me of this). I was however, surprised that this fashion diva has decided to venture into the field of clothes. Being the muse for her sister-in-law, Seema Khan,she probably decided to venture into it all by herself.

In all her shows she claims to understand fashion and be dressed for the occasion.Brother-in-law , Salman Khan too has plans to follow suit into the world of fashion and clothes. Anyway all the best Malaika...maybe we will see her in more clothes from now on...or am I wrong will this mean that many more people (whom she would dress up) would now be seen sporting the less clothes fashionable look. Anyway let's just wait and watch to see how things turn out.

Rani Mukherjee in an all new role- as a “Sardar”

Rani Mukherjee is one actress whom I love watching. She has that charm of the girl-next-door yet the glamour and style of a star. Acting I guess we don’t need to discuss here(yes, I am all for the sweet looking damsel’s acting capabilities). Rani Mukherji will be seen in an all al new role. A different one from what she has been playing for years now. Yes, Yash Raj Films has got Rani Mukherji to play the role of a “Sardar” in her next film. The film is directed by Anurag Singh and Rani is paired opposite the hot sensation Shahid Kapoor(is he still hot…yes, for the girls a Yeah anytime).

Rumors have it that the story of the film is based on cricket. It is Rani’s (the character she plays in the film) obsession for cricket that gets her to do a lot of things. And camouflaging her way as a “Sardar” she tries to find her way in a all-male cricket team…will she make it won’t she…we will have to wait for some more time to know. Anyway Rani and Shahid’s pair would be one to watch out for.

Shilpa Shetty has been in the news or rather making news ever since she won the “Big Boss” television show. Her perfect figure (she makes it a point to emphasize that she does not belong to the category of the skinny size zero girls) has been a point of discussions and the focus for some time now. With yoga videos and all Shilpa too is making the most of all the ho-ha-ha.

After Richard Gere and Karan Johar now it’s the turn of none other then Daniel Craig. Yes, the Bond man himself. He said to NDTV “I think she (Shilpa Shetty) looks great and has a killing figure, just right for a Bond girl”.

ShahRukh Khan in “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”

We sure are enjoying the soft melodious number “Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyar”, the first of his film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” Aditya Chopra film starring Shahrukh Khan and newcomer Anushka Sharma is all set for release this December. The movie looks rather different from the usual. Of course has to meet the boy meets girl drama, however, when it comes from the Yash banner it is different.

ShahRukh Khan however, I feel needs to put on a few kilos as there are cuts that have come on his face too. After the six-pack look for “Om Shanti Om” he has definitely overdone it for the cuts are no longer restricted to his abdomen alone. He needs to thin fast and get into some action soon regarding his weight before its too late.

The first promos of the film is to be released in theatres alongwith the Yash Raj banner distributed film “Dostana”. Marketing strategies these days are truly great. Our film makers sure have learnt a few good lessons in marketing. They have learnt to unfold the suspense little by little keeping the audience waiting for more. Aamir Khan of course, is surely the “Guru” in this field.

Coming back to the film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” , it is written and directed by Aditya Chopra. The music for the film is by Salim-Sulaiman and lyricsby Jaideep Sahni. The film has choreography by none other than Shiamak Davar and Vaibhavi Merchant. After the November release of “Dostana”, cine fans sure have something to look forward to in December too.

Amisha Patel truly in love

Actress Amisha Patel is still in news with her image makeover (remember “Lazy Lamhe”) and of course for being in love. She has found love at last with boyfriend Kanav Puri. News has it that she even fasted for boyfriens Kanav on Karva Chauth. That is what I call true love. Deeply in love she says “Kanav had been away on work. I kept Karva Chauth and went in the evening to my friend’s home where we were all going to break the fast together. It was a Karva Chauth-cum-pre-Diwali party. I was expecting Kanav to arrive the next day. But he came on time just to surprise me”. This is what love, bonding and the power of love is all about.

She broke the Karva Chauth fast and after that it was truly party time for them which ended with Champagne. She says “Kanav is a champagne addict and after giving me a glass of water, he snatched it and replaced it with a flute of champagne. I told him after fasting the whole day I’d be flat out if I had champagne! Kanav is wonderful! For him, every day is a celebration!”. True to the Karva Chauth spirit they dressed traditionally for the occasion. She says “I wore a red-and-gold zardozi Neeta Lulla sari; Kanav wore a traditional kurta with jeans”.

"Dostana" from Karan Johar - hit or flop?

"Dostana" from the genius Karan Johar is the next big budget, rosy looking film that we all are looking forward to. The promos are out and Karan is introducing one song after the other. The Punjabi number and of course the hit number "Desi girl" are right on top of the charts. The trio seem to have done a great job. A movie about friendship (gay do I hear), love and life, the movie promises to deliver all that you deliver from a Karan Johar special. With enough emotions, fun, frolic and drama it is a complete package for the urban cine-goer. All set for release this November 14, it is definitely one movie that I am looking forward to seeing this month.

The movie is directed by Karan's assistant Taran Mansukhani.Shot in the beautiful locales of Miami , it is all fun...fun and fun....With Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra doing full justice to their characters, the film is sure to reach the expectations that it has already created. Priyanka is looking stunning after shedding all those extra kilos. “For Fashion, I had to put on six kilos and later had to shed chip by chip as the character progressed in the film. My body structure in Dostana is more toned than in Fashion as it is a completely beach film. I’ve worked very hard on my body,” Priyanka told IANS.

ShahRukh Khan turns 43

Happy Birthday Shahrukh is what I would love to say now. wishing my favorite star all the good things and all the best for all his future ventures. A super duper hero I do admire.

A self-made man that is the exact term that fits him. Coming to the Bollywood industry at a time when surnames made all the difference, Shahrukh proved that if you believe in it you can make it happen."What's in a name after all". From a young boy making a start from the television screen with serials like "circus" and "Fauji" he has worked real hard to be the King Khan of Bollywood. From a totally unknown name and face today just "SRK" says it all. A huge list of movies, personal achievements, successful business moves and millions of fans later Shah Rukh celebrates his 43rd brithday today on the 02nd of November 2008.

Shah Rukh surely is a super hero. what I like best about him is his zest and passion to do things. He keeps re-inventing himself every now and then to come out with a more successful and better role in reel and real life. A wonderful actor, a smart businessman and a good human being. He makes the day feel so much longer with so much energy and zest to do so many things at a time. Multi-tasking is truly an understatement when it comes to Shahrukh. A man so full of life and real role model - Happy Birthday Shahrukh and many more to come.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the "Vogue" India cover page

Bollywood actresses have moved on from just being on the silver screen and television endorsing products to the cover page of popular magazines.

With Deepika Padukone on the cover page of the "Cosmopolitan" we have none other than Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to match it for the cover page of Vogue India. According to Aishwarya “Doing the Vogue cover was a promise I made to Anaita (Shroff Adajania) right from the time she joined the Vogue. Anaita was having a baby and she wanted me to do it before she delivers,” Aishwarya said to the NDTV news channel from London. Further she said “I was to do this shoot last month but I fell ill before I left for the world tour. So, we crossed notes and managed to do it on time in London just after we finished almost the last show of the tour.”

Shot in London after the successful "Unforgettable Tour", Aishwarya looks stunning with a few kilos lost. She sports a minimalistic look for the Vogue India First Anniversary special.

Is "Fashion"- the latest Bollywood release - a hit or flop?

"Fashion" has sure created a hype in the last few days prior to release. However, will the film be able to meet the high expectations? In theatres with "Golmaal Returns" too stands as a disadvantage I guess especially with kids not being able to go for the film, parents would definitely opt for a fun fill with the full family.

"Fashion" has generated the curiosity of the typical Madhur Bhandarkar film. Every Madhur Bhandarkar film is definitely looked forward to with much enthusiasm. It has been taken as a general rule that a Madhur film comes straight from real life. Although there are rumors that "Fashion" is a take from the lives of some famous models, the star cast denies it totally. Of course every film that wants to portray a real life incident or person comes with the typical disclaimer of "does not relate to the life of any person living or dead" and so "Fashion" follows in the traditionally laid out safe path.

It definitely will have the entire "Fashion" industry checking it out for any similarities to anyone they know. The press, of course, is there to scrutinise it under the microscope for any resemblance to anyone living or dead. even a faint resemblance is going to turn into a huge powerful headline. Anything...just about anything at this time that makes news will definitely work in favor of the film.

What's on in Bollywood?

Bollywood has been seeing a trend that has become really unpredictable. With mega budget glamorous films disappearing with so much as a sound is surprising. Is it that the preferences of the fans have changed or that film makers are unable to judge the likes and dislikes of their audience?

Films like "Jodha-Akbar" not rising to the expectations and again a fun-film like "Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na" getting favor from the fans in large numbers - what does it all say? Is it comedy and light hearted films that are liked by the audience, what with the success of Akshay Kumar's "Singh is Kinng". Then again comedy films like "De Taali", "Mere Baap Pehle Aap" and Govinda's comeback film "Money Hai to Honey Hai" couldn't generate any kind of interest. What does all this say about Bollywood, do brands really sell here, do names make a difference (then what went wrong with "Thoda Pyar thoda Magic" from the Chopra banner and backed by a glittering star cast?)

Do film makers have to seriously consider playing to the galleries? Does Bollywood need a complete revamp? "Rock On", the movie based on rock music is all set for its release on the 29th of August. Based on friendship and rock music the film stars Farhan Akhtar, Luke Kenny, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Koel Puri and Prachi Desai.

Farhan Akhtar has sang six out of the nine songs in the film. He has moved from back screen to the front of the camera. His acting career does not end with this, for Farhan Akhtar fans there is more to come with “Luck By chance” and “The Fakir of Venice”. “Voice from the Sky” is going to be his next directorial venture.
Farhan Akhtar in the film "rock On" plays the character "Aditya" whose life is all about music. The film is the story of four friends played by Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal (as Joe Mascarenhas)a passionate guitarist, Purab Kohli (as Kedar Zaveri)the drummer and Luke Kenny(as Rob Nancy). The story about friendship and music and ultimately how they turn their dream into reality.

It is directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The music is by none other than Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.So for all fans tomorrow is the D-day when the film hits the theatres. Bachna Ae Haseeno - Ranbir Kapoor is here

The disastrous performance of their debut film "Saawariya" did not have any ill effects on the career of the new comers - Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam. This probably has to do with the strong Bollywood backing that the two have. Anyway for whatever reasons(better not known), the two have put their past behind them and moved on to greener pastures.

Sonam is all geared up for her forthcoming release "Dilli 6". Ranbir on the other hand, romances three sexy glam dolls in his next release "Bachna Ae Haseeno". The three beautiful damsels in the film are none other than "Deepika Padukone", "Bipasha Basu" and "Minnisha Lamba". He has openly made the comment on a program on Zoom TV that Bipasha is the sexiest of the lot. Would this have Deepika fuming? Would Ranbir have to eat his own words?

Set for release tomorrow the 15th of August, this Independence day holds a lot in store for the makers and the stars. The chemistry of the real life couple Deepika and Ranbir is seen very clearly in the promos with have the flashy songs that make a big promise. With Friday just a few hours away there is a lot at stake for Deepika- Ranbir and also Yashraj productions. Is Ugly Aur Pugly - a hit or flop?

“Ugly Aur Pugli” is it a hit or flop? The promos of the film looked interesting enough to get the people to the theatres. Although the papers are screaming out that the film is a “Smash Hit”, is it really true. The film didn’t have a great opening. The reason? The reason is known to the Indian audience alone. In fact, like the Indian stock market, the Bollywood films too really don’t have a specific reason for it to be termed a hit or flop. It depends on the mood of the people at the time I guess.

“Ugly Aur Pugli” the story of 99 slaps and a kiss is one from the Pritish Nandy Banner. The stars and the makers have a reason to smile. With positive word of mouth publicity the film sure is picking up. I think the reason for it for not taking off initially was Mallika Sherawat. The family audience like me is still a little skeptical about going for a film with the hot Mallika Sherawat and the ready to experiment Ranvir Shourey. You really don't know what to expect. I actually need someone reliable to recommend it before I venture out with my daughter to the theatre to watch the film. After Kamal Hassan’s “Dasavatharam” multiple roles seem the inn thing in Bollywood. He played 10 different roles or chracters to perfection in the film. Moving from the South to the Bollywood scene, we have none other than the versatile actor Paresh Rawal playing four different roles in his next release.

In his forthcoming release “ Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam”, Paresh Rawal is paired opposite the hot and sexy Mallika Sherawat. Both he and Rahul Bose play multiple roles in the film. Paresh plays four different characters namely, Haldi Hassan a noted Ghazal singer, Kayyum Cable, Uday Singh Mazumdar and Shahenshah Akbar. If you want variety here it is.

Sanjay Chhel claims that he has really brought out the best in Paresh which no other director has been able to accomplish so far. We will soon know. The judgement of the people is final. Cricketing stars are the latest descendants on the silver screen

Cricketers taking to acting is a new trend seen in recent times. Our very own cricketing sensation “Anil Kumble” is soon going to be seen in a Pritish Nandy Communications “Meerabai Not Out”. He is paired in the film opposite non other than the cricket glamour girl “Mandira Bedi”. The cricketer says he plays himself in the film and that is the reason for him signing for it.

There are a whole lot of other cricketers waiting to descend on the silver screen. Yes, I am talking of Harman Baweja’s newly signed film “Victory” wherein he plays the role of a cricketer. He would be seen with cricketers from several different teams like Sri Lanka and Australia. Talks are on to rope in more cricketers from other countries of the world. This looks like yet another ambitious project like the mega “Love Story 2050”.

Harman has been watching and practicing a lot of cricket to play the role to perfection. The film is directed by theatre personality Ajit Pal.
