A sensitive portrayal – Aamir’s brainchild – “Taare Zameen Par”-movie review

It was the interest of my 8 year old daughter and her interes to see Aamir film that made me venture out to the theatres. The virant and lively catchy tunes of "Bam Bam Bole" and the little clips of the film did manage to strike a chord I must admit with me too. The curiosity that a film draws must admit is terrific and this being his directorial debut had a strong attractive power. A lazy Sunday afternoon decided to be spent in the theatre turned out to be an absolute learning experience. A learning experience like no other.

Dyslexia is what the film mainly dealt with. A learning disorder I have (like many others) definitely come across this in several books, shows and magazines. This however, was a real eye opener. The intensity of the condition and how it can take you on a real roller coaster ride has been portrayed very sensitively in the film. This probably was a learning experience for many adults, parents, teachers and all those connected to the academic field. If you have been able to give it a good hearing it has struck a chord somewhere within you. That is what Taare Zameen Par is.a film that has taken Bollywood by surprise. Taare Zameen Par has proved that you do not need an action thriller or a masala story to make a hit.

This truly is yet another feather in Aamir’s cap. It proves his credibility not only as an actor but also a creator, a person who has the ability to visualize and give it the right shape. Yet another side of the multi-faceted personality of Aamir.

"Taare Zameen Par" is a sensitive portrayal of the journey of a dyslexic child. It has been dealt with in a superb style and sensitivity. A serious issue dealt with in a light and fun-filled manner that each one of us is ready to give it a patient hearing. He has brought to light a huge issue that many have turned their backs too or have just overlooked.

In the rat race that we all are running today and getting our child to run being a topper, a high performer is all that has come to matter. We fail to recognize the individual ability or talent that our child shows. Every child is different and it is important to understand that in the first place. Each child is blessed with a unique set of skills and talents, it is important to recognize, understand and encourage it. . All it requires is some time and understanding. You would then surely be the parent of a topper who excels in his chosen field. His chosen field is what is important here.

The film is a milestone in the history of Bollywood and is what is the headline of Bollywood news today. A simple message of understanding and relating to one’s child is beautifully presented. You are the guide, the leader, your little one is too young to understand the right from the wrong. You must lead him or her to the right path rather than get them lost somewhere on the way and blame them for it. It is you as an adult , as a parent, who must extend your hand forward for timely help.

Aamir has proved himself to be a good actor and also found the right characters to portray the shades he wanted. Darsheel Safary or Ishaan Awasthi as we know him now has played his character to perfection. You have to be your child's best friend and be by his side. Like the character Ishaan Awasthi your little one may not find a mentor like Ram Shankar Nikumbh to get him out of a situation like this. You have to be by his/her side and lead them the right way and hold them before they fall and get hurt.

Cheers to Aamir for a terrific film that is going to go down in Bollywood history as one masterpiece. A beautiful film after long that has been able to retain my attention till the very end.Unlike most Bollywood Films, "Taare Zameen Par" has maintained the tempo throughout. The film has not lost focus mid-way. A complete and wonderful package to all age groups is what “Taare Zameen Par” brings for us.
